JAAS's International Exchange Programs

The Japanese Association of American Studies (JAAS) is actively engaged in various international exchange programs, including the following:

From March to April

  1. JAAS/OAH Sponsored Session (in person and electronic participation) at the annual convention of the Organization of American Historians (OAH)
  2. Sending several Japanese graduate students in U.S. to OAH annual meeting by grants from the Japan-United States Friendship Commission (JUSFC) for airfare and lodging

From May to December

  1. Accepting two U.S. historians from the OAH at the host institutions in Japan through the JUSFC-sponsored two-week residency program

From late May to early June

  1. Two JAAS/ASA Sponsored Sessions (Workshop A/Workshop B) at the annual convention of the JAAS
  2. Inviting scholars of the American Studies Association of Korea (ASAK) to the JAAS annual convention
  3. Two Pro-Seminars at Japanese institutions with ASA scholars as main speakers

From September to October

  1. Sending JAAS scholars to the annual convention of the ASAK

From November to December

  1. Sending several Japanese graduate students in U.S. to ASA annual meeting by grants from the Japan-United States Friendship Commission (JUSFC) for airfare and lodging
