This issue will explore the theme of “War” from a wide range of disciplinary perspectives. In general, we welcome papers that shed light on aspects of American ways of life, society, history, literature, politics, economics, law, space, art and architecture, and uses of electronic communications media.

Proposals, consisting of a title and abstract (approximately 300 words), are due by January 16, 2012, and should be sent to the JJAS Editorial Committee, JAAS, c/o Center for Pacific and American Studies, University of Tokyo, 3-8-1 Komaba, Meguro-ku, Tokyo 153-8902. Completed manuscripts will be due May 10, 2012 (maximum 8000 words, including notes.) Papers must be written in English, based on original research, and previously unpublished.
